Nelson's Dockyard
| Building started on the Antigua Naval Yard at English Harbour about 1725. Its function was to maintain the Royal Naval warships which protected Britian's interest in the valuable sugar islands of the Eastern Caribbean. Today the dockyard is a National Park. The restoraion which begain in 1951 still continues. |
